Positively
August
The feverish heat of the August sun bellows down from
the clear West Texas sky. The noise of
the locusts can be heard all around. The
mesquite trees, oak trees, and pecan trees come alive from their sounds as the
sun’s intense heat gives no sign of relief.
But on this particular early Saturday morning, the
locusts are quiet. Some welcomed clouds
and a slight breeze is showing the promise of a good morning. The birds can be heard simultaneously singing
their familiar songs. Are they
communicating, rejoicing, or just feeling happy? Whatever the case may be, they appear to be content. Who
wouldn’t be content -- flying freely through the sky, soaring from place to
place? But for me, a nice walk will have
to do.
My favorite place to walk is through the lily
garden. The lilies are in full
bloom. Their colors are so radiant. What a great way to spend a Saturday morning –
if only for a bit! It’s good to see God’s
nature at work. It helps me put my life
in perspective.
