Happy New Year!
Well, I heard a few fire crackers last night around 10:30 and that is all I remember. I was out for the night!  Couldn’t bring in the New Year with everyone else, but that’s okay.  I consider sleep a valuable thing and part of a healthy lifestyle.  Boy, I must be really healthy this morning!

So I soaked my black eye peas all last night and put them on to cook this morning.  This was the first year I used chicken broth to cook my peas instead of water.  I will definitely continue to do this – it made them taste really  yummy.  I added about 3 slices of crumbled, cooked bacon, 1 diced onion, 1 seeded and chopped jalapeno, 1 clove of garlic chopped, salt, pepper, then let them cook with a lid all morning.  The house smelled so good.  They cooked about 3 hours and were perfect – just in time for lunch.

Now that lunch is over, I hear the outdoors calling my name!  It is an absolutely gorgeous day here in San Angelo.  Temperature in the mid 60's. Tomorrow is supposed to be really cold again (yuck!)  So we better enjoy the sunshine and cool breeze today.  I need to clean the pool.  That is exercise in itself!  I haven't bought one of those fancy pool cleaners yet, still trying to decide which one to get.

My son got the tires on our bikes aired up.  I may try to get out and ride some this afternoon.  Hopefully I won't look too ridiculous riding around the neighborhood.  It's been awhile since I've been on a bike!  Maybe this should be my New Year's resolution to ride my bike more.  Lord knows I need the exercise!  I think I will get right on that...  that is after I finish eating this cupcake in my hand!

I hope 2014 is a good year for everyone out there. Don't forget to have fun!  Try to learn something new this year.  Never stop learning.
